Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte has told Football.London that Rodrigo Bentancur could still improve, adding that he is pushing the midfielder every day.
Conte has raved about Tottenham midfielder Bentancur, but the former Inter Milan and Chelsea boss has added that the 25-year-old Uruguay international midfielder needs to do more to become a top player.
The 25-year-old moved to Tottenham from Juventus in January 2022 for £15.8 million (Sky Sports).
Bentancur has scored two goals and created six big chances in 29 Premier League appearances for Spurs so far in his career.
Antonio Conte on Tottenham Hotspur’s Rodrigo Bentancur
Conte said about Bentancur: “Rodrigo has only one problem in my opinion. He has the real possibility to be really, really top, top, but you know that to become a top player you need to will it and to decide this.
“In the last period I think that Rodrigo has been playing in an outstanding way, and he’s a player that is giving us a lot on the pitch, outside the pitch, and we are talking about a player that is showing the possibility to be one of the top, top midfielders, one of the best midfielders in the world.
“But you know to be a good player and then the top that is the difficulty. When you are medium to become good is not so difficult. The difference is to be good to top.
“I think he has everything and has the great potential to be a top, top midfielder. For this reason I push him. I push him every day, during the training sessions because he has this quality to become.”

Improving
In our opinion, Rodrigo Bentancur is one of the best players at Tottenham Hotspur and could still improve.
After all, Bentancur is only 25.
The Uruguayan has done wel under Antonio Conte at Tottenham and is likely to get even better.
Former Juventus boss Conte is known for improving him, and he clearly rates Bentancur and thinks that he can get even better.
Bentancur needs to work hard, like he does, and do what he is told by Conte and the other Tottenham coaching staff to fulfil his potential.
