Clinton Morrison has claimed that Roy Keane would be a ‘good appointment’ for Sunderland, as he told Sky Sports.
The former striker played alongside Keane for the Republic of Ireland and shared that he ‘needs to change’ if he is to get back into management.
Sunderland are yet to bring in a new face for their dugout after sacking Lee Johnson following that humiliation at Bolton.
Keane’s name has popped up as a possible replacement and the former midfielder has already had an interview with the League One side, as reported by Sky Sports.
During his playing days, his brief time as a manager and in the TV studios as a pundit, Keane is someone that just doesn’t mince his words.
Given his no-nonsense style, Morrison shared his thoughts on his former teammate and those Sunderland links.
“If he hasn’t changed, then he needs to change,” said Morrison. “I don’t think you can speak to people like that.
“I played with Roy and I have been on the end of a few arguments. But, I am one, I stand my ground and argue with him.
“But he can tell you how it is. And he is opinionated. But he sets high levels. The reason he sets high levels is because he has been there and done it.
“However, it’s different when you go into management because, at the end of the day, you need those players on your side. I think he will change. I think he will be a good appointment for Sunderland.”

The problem isn’t with Roy, but those on the end of what he has to say.
The treble-winning captain doesn’t demand his players pass the ball better or defend like he used to do.
But give their absolute all and at all times, which for some, that high level of intensity, can prove to be too much at times.
That’s why he won so many trophies, but if he does get the job, then his number two is going to be crucial.
