Darren Bent has claimed that Newcastle United target, Dan Burn, has become ‘quicker’ and ‘better’ since their days together at Fulham, as he told Sky Sports News (29/01/22 at 2:15 pm).

The former striker shared that he played alongside the Brighton defender during their days at Fulham around 2011 when Burn would have been a teenager.

Since then, Burn has played for Wigan, where the Seagulls purchased him from and he may now have Newcastle on his CV.

The 29-year-old already has Newcastle on his CV in the sense that he was with his boyhood club as a young kid.

If a deal can be struck between Newcastle and Brighton, then he will don those black and white stripes again, but this time as a professional.

And ex-Sunderland man, Bent, shared his thoughts on the player possibly joining Newcastle.

“He has got better,” said Bent. “I played with him at Fulham, Dan Burn.

“He is one of them players, you face him up and go past him. Then you think ‘I have gone past him’.

“But he is quicker than you expect because he’s tall. You think you have gone past him but then he comes out of nowhere.

“I think in this system, it works perfectly for him. In the left of a three or as a left wing-back.”

Bruno Guimaraes has been signed, sealed and delivered by Newcastle on Sunday, as he joins Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood at St James’ Park.

Sky Sports also report that a fee has been accepted for Burn ahead of transfer deadline day, so slowly but surely, this is all starting to nit together for Eddie Howe.

They will want more faces through their doors no doubt, a certain Manchester United player in Jesse Lingard is still a Manchester United player, so this could yet get tastier for those in the North East.
