Jose Enrique has stated on Instagram that Divock Origi needs to leave Liverpool for the own good of his career before transfer deadline day.

The former left-back, who played with Origi at Anfield, thinks the Belgium international needs regular football under his belt – he has six months remaining on his current contract.

Under Jurgen Klopp, Origi has mainly been used as a substitute and he has made quite the impact on many occasions from the bench.

From his Champions League heroics to late winners in Merseyside derbies, Origi is the modern-day David Fairclough and someone who will go down in the club’s history.

But he is far down the Liverpool striker pecking order and Enrique thinks it’s time for the club ‘legend’ to depart to earn those regular starts.

“I love Origi and I played with him,” said Enrique. “I got on really well with him. But I think it’s maybe time for him to move on to somewhere where he has regular football.

“He can play more games. It’s enough time for him to be on the bench. He is a legend of the club. He has done so much for us to have the titles that we have in the last few years.

“But I think it’s time for him to move on. The number nine, Diogo Jota and Firmino are going to play there before him.”

If Origi does leave, then it will be interesting where he ends up and whether he will remain in the Premier League.

There will be many teams near the bottom who would love to add his magic touch to their ranks.

Origi has proven that he can be counted on in big pressure situations and that’s exactly what those fighting relegation are coming up against.

Someone like Newcastle stick out straight away, but they have already signed Chris Wood, on top of already having Callum Wilson, but perhaps Burnley, Watford, Leeds or Norwich could sign him up?
