Jamie O’Hara has claimed that Newcastle-bound, Dan Burn, has transformed into a ‘fantastic’ player since they last played together, as he told talkSPORT.
The radio pundit shared that he played with Burn during their days at Fulham and praised how he has done ‘unbelievable’ since.
Sky Sports have reported that Brighton have accepted an offer from Newcastle to sign Burn before Monday’s 11 pm cut-off point.
If Burn signs for Newcastle, then the hard-hitting defender will go from a team sitting comfortably in the Premier League table to one struggling in the bottom three.
Nonetheless, this is what former Spurs man, O’Hara, had to say about Burn’s imminent move to St James’ Park.
“I played with Dan and he has done unbelievable,” said O’Hara. “He’s tall, but Graham Potter has turned him into a left wing-back almost.
“He plays on the left side of a three. I played with him at Fulham and he was used as a big centre-half that would head it and kick it.
“But Graham Potter has really turned him into a fantastic player.”
Newcastle already have one defender through their doors this month in the experienced, Kieran Trippier.
If Burn adds his name to the club’s list, then he will only add much-needed quality, depth and experience that Eddie Howe has been looking for at the back.
But on top of the above two, Matt Targett is also set to join from Aston Villa on a loan deal until the end of the campaign, as reported by the Guardian.
And by the time the Magpies face Everton in the Premier League next week, they could possibly line up with Chris Wood, Trippier, Burn, Targett and Bruno Guimarães.
