Rangers star Ryan Jack has sent a six-word Instagram message to Ibrox teammate Allan McGregor after the veteran goalkeeper produced a stunning penalty save, during his side’s 3-0 win over Red Star Belgrade.
The Gers were favourites to beat Serbian side Red Star and while the scoreline read 3-0 to Rangers, the Gers did ride their luck at times in what was a much more equal game than the result suggested.
James Tavernier scored from the penalty spot, before Alfredo Morelos continued his stunning Rangers form with a gorgeous finish from 10 yards. Leon Balogun scored the pick of the goals, a sumptuous header.
But Red Star showed just how dangerous they can be, having three goals disallowed for offside. They also hit the bar, and 40-year-old McGregor pulled off a wonderful penalty save – after Jack conceded a spot-kick.
Jack message to McGregor: Rangers star silences critics at Ibrox
With the Rangers legend out of contract in the summer and his form hitting the skids of late, many have suggested that McGregor is in the final months of his career. But he reminded all just how good he is, reliable as always.
McGregor’s penalty save was incredible, denying a very good penalty from Aleksandar Katai. His big, one-handed save kept Rangers 2-0 up, a crucial save at a pivotal time in the tie. Jack raved about McGregor, on Instagram.
