According to a number of reports in recent weeks, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a move for Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni.
The Italian defender is, as many will know, a favourite of Antonio Conte having worked alongside him during the Spurs boss’ spell at Inter.
Conte has had plenty of good things to say about Bastoni in the past, labelling him as ‘phenomenal’ in the past.
It’s clear to see that Conte loves Bastoni, and it seems as though the feeling is mutual.
Indeed, Bastoni has gone on the record in the past to speak about just how grateful he is to Conte for the opportunity he gave him at San Siro.
What’s Bastoni said about Conte?
The Italian defender had nothing but good things to say about Conte.
“He was the one who consecrated me, I owe him the 90% of what I am today,” the defender told DAZN (via Football Italia).
“He gave me so much technically, but also in terms of mentality. Not every coach plays a 20-year-old guy in a team like Inter. I owe him so much.”

Chance to repay him
Bastoni says that he owes Conte a lot, and now, he has the perfect opportunity to repay him by joining him at Spurs.
Tottenham certainly need a new left-sided centre-half, and the Italian would be a brilliant fit in that role, as we’ve already seen at Inter.
Yes, Bastoni also has the chance to head to Manchester City or Bayern, but given just how much he feels he owes Conte, a move to Spurs may suit Bastoni as he may feel as though he has to repay the Italian’s faith.
