Speaking to SportBible, Neil Warnock has been discussing Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson.
The ex-Middlesbrough boss was tasked with picking his England team for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and Henderson got the nod in Warnock’s midfield.
In fact, Henderson was the player Warnock named as his captain, reserving some special praise for the England international.
Warnock said that Henderson is one of the best leaders in the game, stating that he never imagined the former Sunderland man doing as well as he has at Liverpool.
What’s been said?
Warnock spoke about Henderson.
“Talkers are few and far between nowadays and he’s definitely one of the best out there. If I’m honest, I never thought Henderson would do as well as he has done at Liverpool. He just kept surprising me. He’s like a bottle of wine. He’s gotten better year after year,” Warnock said.

Exceeded all expectations
Warnock says he didn’t expect Henderson to do this well for Liverpool, and, to be honest, not many people did.
Let’s not forget, the midfielder was almost shipped off to Fulham just one year after joining the Reds back in 2012, but he turned down the move to fight for his place – and fight he did.
Indeed, the midfielder got his head down and improved every aspect of his game, becoming genuinely one of the greatest captains this club has ever had.
Of course, he had massive shoes to fill when inheriting the armband from Steven Gerrard, but he’s done everything he can to carve out a legacy that could arguably match Gerrard’s.
Despite a shaky start to his time on Merseyside, Henderson will go down as a true Liverpool great.
The England international is a perfect example of where hard work and dedication can get you in this game.
