David Thompson has praised Everton midfielder Tom Davies on Twitter for his performance against Liverpool at Anfield at the weekend.

The former Liverpool midfielder, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport, has taken a cheeky dig at Davies as well, saying that he never thought that he would use ‘brilliant’ to describe his performance.

Winger Yannick Bolasie, now on loan at Middlesbrough from Everton, was impressed by the performance of the midfielder during the Toffees’ 2-0 win against the Reds in the Merseyside derby on Saturday.

Meanwhile, former Queens Park Rangers and Manchester City forward Rodney Marsh said on Twitter that Everton defender Michael Keane was the best player on the pitch at Anfield.

How did Tom Davies play against Liverpool?

Davies has not had the best of times this season, but the 22-year-old central midfielder was superb against Liverpool in the Merseyside derby.

The youngster imposed himself in the middle of the park, was a force to be reckoned with, and did his job perfectly.

According to WhoScored, Davies had a pass accuracy of 70.4%, won one header, took 35 touches, and made five tackles and one interception.

So far this season, Davies has made 11 starts and five substitute appearances in the Premier League for Everton, according to WhoScored.
