Heung-Min Son has shared that he ‘never thought’ he would be on the verge of combining for the most goals in Premier League history, as the Tottenham forward told Sky Sports (18/12/21 at 2:30 pm).
Both Son and his partner in crime, Harry Kane, have combined for a total of 35 goals in Tottenham colours.
Last season, they broke the record of most goal combinations for a duo in a single season.
And now they are one behind the all-time record held by Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba – that’s the same duo’s record they broke last term.
Jose Mourinho played his part in Drogba and Lampard doing the business together and he also did more than his bit for Son and Kane.
Things may not have been able to click this season, as of yet, but surely they will break that record during these coming months?
Nonetheless, Son suggested that he just can’t believe that he is in such a situation of creating history and he also shared his thoughts on his relationship with Kane.
“This means a lot,” said Son. “For me, watching Premier League as a kid. I never thought about this.
“Me and H working together for a very long time and we know each other so well. Obviously, we haven’t had the impact as last season, but we are working on it and talking about the situation.”

Son’s form hasn’t been a worry this season, it’s Kane that has fallen off the footballing cliff.
It will be interesting to see how this recent break, albeit not planned, would have helped someone like Kane and his form.
You just feel if the England captain can get his engine going again, then it’s only a matter of time before he and Son are wheeling away together in celebration.
But the task isn’t going to be easy on Sunday because it’s only the small matter of taking on one of the best teams in Europe in Liverpool, although, that lack of pressure might help all involved.
