Liverpool Football Club is a massive brand across the globe. The Reds have a huge fan following and it’s no surprise many kids dream of representing the club when they grow up.
Iceland international Elias Mar Omarsson is one of them. The now 26-year-old grew up a Liverpool fan and always hoped to become a Red at some stage of his professional career.
Omarsson has scored 15 goals for Dutch side Excelsior in just 11 games this season but admitted he has become a lot more realistic about his dream move.
‘Huge fan since childhood’
He told AD: “I’ve been a huge Liverpool fan since childhood, just like the rest of my family.
“Growing up in Iceland, the whole living room was filled with Liverpool stuff. We even painted Anfield on a box. I never stopped dreaming. But the older I get, the more you realise how things work. I have become realistic.”
Liverpool have one of the most prolific attacks in world football. Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah have scored heaps of goals in the past two years to help Liverpool win the Champions League and Premier League.
Roberto Firmino has been the key link to his partners in attack, while new signing Diogo Jota has hit the ground running.
The Iceland international needs a miracle to get his dream move. A leap from the Dutch second division to the best team in England seems insurmountable.
But stranger things have happened. If Jurgen Klopp was to give him one piece of advice, it would be to never stop dreaming.
