Leeds United’s Junior Firpo has raved about Lionel Messi to Sky Sports and claimed that he is the ‘best in history’.
The 24-year-old also added that the Barcelona supporter would do things in training that he has ‘never saw before’.
Not many players get the chance to play and train alongside one of the greatest if not the greatest player of all time, but Firpo can tell his grandchildren that one day.
But now he begins a new chapter in Yorkshire, as he shared his thoughts on Messi.
“It’s really good,” said Messi. “He’s the best. He is amazing. All you can see what he can do in games.
“But in training, he was really amazing. I saw things that I never saw before.
“Amazing, for me, he is the best in history.”
Well, Firpo has left one football genius in Messi to work alongside another in Marcelo Bielsa.
If Messi is one of the greats of the game out on that pitch then Bielsa is probably his equivalent out on that training pitch and on the sidelines.
It will be interesting to see how Firpo fares under Bielsa because he can take his game to serious heights under his coaching.
