Alan Shearer was on punditry duty during Manchester United’s clash at Burnley, when he couldn’t hide his delight at Ryan Fraser’s goal, as Newcastle beat Everton 3-1 at St James’ Park.

The Newcastle game was on-going when he was talking about the Man United game at half-time, before Fraser scored and he joked that ‘I never really noticed’, as he told Premier League Productions (08/02/22 at 9:03 pm).

It was a chaotic and action-packed game at St James’ Park, with a tale of two own goals being the main talking points in the first half.

Jamaal Lascelles ended up putting the ball into the back of his own net, before Mason Holgate did the same a minute later.

That’s when Fraser scrambled hame Newcastle’s second, before Kieran Trippier made sure of the points with a wicked free-kick.

Nonetheless, this was Shearer’s reaction to Fraser’s goal in the 56th minute and how Eddie Howe reacted on the sidelines.

“I never really noticed, did I?” laughs Shearer. “I am happy as Eddie Howe is (as pictures show Howe celebrating on the sidelines).”

This is a big, big win for Newcastle and one that drags Everton into the relegation dogfight.

The more the merrier for the Magpies because it increases their chances of staying in England’s top-flight.

What makes matters worse for the Toffees is that they face off against Leeds at the weekend.

They are another team battling down the bottom and they don’t want to suffer another defeat because they will only drop further.
