Jeff Stelling has expressed his shock at the performances Emerson Royal has been producing for Tottenham Hotspur of late and, as a result, the points he has been picking up in Fantasy Premier League (FPL).
The Sky Sports presenter stated that he ‘never thought’ he would be bigging up the Spurs defender in such a fashion, with Paul Merson being left ‘wowed’ by the previously-criticised star.
Two goals and three clean sheets have been registered by Emerson Royal from his side’s last five Premier League games – that’s a very strong 38 points in FPL money from the right-sided wing-back.

Despite that, only 2.4% of people own the Brazil international, who will be looking to continue his form for Antonio Conte’s men when they welcome Graham Potter’s struggling Chelsea to north London on Sunday.
Whether it’s Mykhailo Mudryk or Raheem Sterling, Tottenham’s £26 million defender (Sky Sports) is going to have another ball-carrying speedster trying to break his ankles.
But, from the foul-expert Jack Grealish to the rejuvenated Willian, he has stepped up and produced in recent weeks, with Stelling giving Royal his flowers, as he told Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports (25/02/23 at 12:15 pm).
“Here are words I never thought I would say,” said Stelling. “Emerson Royal. Has anybody got him in their team? 38 points he has scored in his last five games. Two goals. Three clean sheets and six bonus points.”
As Stelling was reading out Royal’s stats, Merson could be heard in the background simply stating ‘wow’, and rightly so!

PEDRO PORRO ARRIVAL
It’s interesting what a new signing can do for a team, especially for a player who knew his place was under serious threat.
With Matt Doherty booted out of the door on transfer deadline day, Emerson Royal was fully aware that Porro arrived at Hotspur Way to take his place.
But during that period, the former Barcelona man has looked like a man ready to prove a point, a player on the front foot, reading danger and producing error-free performances.
