Edu has revealed that David Luiz felt ‘strange’ after joining Arsenal, and admitted that the centre-back told him he needs time to adapt.
Arsenal’s technical director was speaking to the BBC, where he also discussed Willian’s start to life at the Emirates.
On the topic of Luiz, however, Edu said: “When we signed David Luiz, he mentioned to me: ‘When I drive, most of the time for all my life, I turn right to go for one road. I’m experienced but I am facing a situation now where I turn left. It’s quite strange to come here and I need time to get used to it.'”
We’re not quite sure why the Brazilian felt strange, to be honest.
Of course, joining a new club is a big thing. However, Luiz has played at the highest level for many years, including the Brazil national team, and has gathered more than enough experience to feel confident walking into Arsenal.

The 33-year-old has made a huge 521 appearances across his career, while also playing 56 times for the Brazil national team.
He was also a key player in the 2014 World Cup.
Perhaps there were other reasons which made him feel strange after moving to north London.

The Unai Emery signing – who cost the Gunners £8 million from Chelsea – did walk into a club who were still finding their feet after Arsene Wenger’s exit.
You could argue that they’re still looking for those feet, as things are pretty difficult under Mikel Arteta right now.
However, we feel that Luiz had enough experience and know-how to feel confident, rather than strange, about joining a struggling giant in Arsenal.
