Tottenham Hotspur’s Dele Alli has admitted that he really misses Jan Vertonghen on Instagram yesterday.
Alli tried to set up a live chat with the former Tottenham player on the social media website yesterday, but unfortunately the sound was not working.
The pair could not fix the technical issue which meant that their catch up was cut short.
But Alli still had time to send a mess to the Belgian defender.
“Super Jan. I miss you, bro!,” he said, before ending the video.
Alli then went on to treat Tottenham fans to his rendition of Vertonghen’s ‘Super Jan’ song, before ending the call.
The experienced defender was let go by Spurs last summer by Jose Mourinho, who decided against renewing his contract.
Vertonghen had shown signs of age in his final season at Spurs, although he may have actually been a useful option this term.
Tottenham haven’t been able to settle upon a defensive pairing for most of this campaign, and Vertonghen surely would have received game time if he had stayed.
Vertonghen, instead, has moved to Benfica – where he has played regularly and helped them into third place in the table in Portugal.
