Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand has been discussing his Premier League Team of the Season, claiming that West Ham’s Aaron Cresswell may be a late inclusion in his side.
Ferdinand initially had Luke Shaw down at left-back, but after a little bit more consideration, he says that he may change his side to include Cresswell.
“Shaw’s at left-back, but I almost put Cresswell in there to be fair, most assists this season for a full-back you know,” Ferdinand said.
“People think it’s a foregone conclusion for Shaw, he’s had an amazing six months, but he wasn’t doing it at the start of the season, while Cresswell has been consistent,” Ferdinand’s co-host replied
“Cresswell almost made it, but Shaw has just been a bit more and gives a bit more, but I don’t know, it’s a hard one, Cresswell could get into my team, I might change it, I don’t know,” Ferdinand concluded.

Cresswell being the league’s best left-back this term is certainly up for debate.
In terms of attacking contributions, it’s hard to argue against it, but of course, being a full-back is about a lot more than that.
Luke Shaw has enjoyed one of his best seasons for Manchester United, Andy Robertson has consistently been fantastic for Liverpool while a player like Joao Cancelo has turned out at left-back on certain occasions.
It will be interesting to see which left-back is picked in the Premier League’s official Team of the Season.
