Andy Robertson has told The Football Show that he has loved Virgil van Dijk ever since he saw the centre-back playing for Celtic.

Robertson and Van Dijk came up against each other in the Scottish Premiership earlier in their careers, before becoming Liverpool teammates.

And the left-back, who is a Celtic fan, claims that Van Dijk has always been one of his favourite players, ever since he saw him playing at Parkhead.

“The big guy is class in everything he does,” Robertson said.

“He carries himself so well on and off the pitch, and he’s someone who a lot of people look up to, and I’m one of them as well.

“Obviously I loved him at Celtic and I was delighted when he signed for Liverpool. He’s shown that the money spent was well worth it.”

Van Dijk spent two years at Celtic between 2013 and 2015, before moving on to join Southampton.

The Dutchman then joined Liverpool in 2018, where he became teammates with Robertson.

Since moving to Anfield, Van Dijk has widely become considered as the best defender in world football.

The 28-year-old has been nothing short of a revelation in Liverpool’s defence and his performances have been a major reason in the success of Jurgen Klopp’s team since his arrival.
