Paul Scholes has lauded Thiago Alcantara for ‘completely dictating the pace of play’ as Liverpool thrashed Manchester United 4-0 at Anfield.
The Old Trafford legend watched on from the sidelines with horror as his former team were outclassed by Jurgen Klopp’s title-chasing Liverpool.
At the heart of every great team, there is that master magician, someone who can do something out of the ordinary and things others just don’t see.
During his peak years on the Premier League stage, Scholes was that player for Man United.
Well, Liverpool have their own expert in the middle of the park, as Scholes stated that the Man United players should have just watched the 31-year-old from the stands last night, as he told Premier League Productions.
“I love watching Thiago,” said Scholes. “They (Man United players) have just watched Thiago, like we have.
“They might as well sat with us in the stands. Watching him completely dictate the pace of play, where the ball is going and who he is going to give it to.”

Last season, Thiago might have taken 12 or so months to settle in, but that was understandable given the injuries he suffered and all the injuries around him.
But now he is playing in a more well-balanced system, the former Barcelona player is running amock on the Premier League stage.
It’s like he has a Playstation controller in hand and he has put the settings to the easiest possible mode.
The level and difference of quality between someone like Thiago compared to Man United’s midfield last night was scary.
But that’s why the Reds are pushing for all four trophies and Man United don’t have a permanent manager after another trophyless campaign.
