Michael Owen expressed how much he ‘loved’ Harry Kane’s headed goal during Tottenham Hotspur’s comeback 2-2 draw against Brentford on Boxing Day.

Premier League football returned where it left off pre-World Cup, Antonio Conte’s side going behind, then mounting a second-half comeback.

Well, this time, Spurs needed two goals to rescue a point against Thomas Frank’s men, with Kane starting proceedings with a brilliant-headed goal.

That effort from the 29-year-old was his tenth goal on Boxing Day, that’s more than anyone during the Premier League era.

And it was something former Liverpool and Real Madrid striker Michael Owen admired, as he told Premier League Productions on MatchDay Extra (26/12/22 at 11:10 pm).

“I love this goal,” said Owen. “Harry Kane gets up early. He is strong. He heads it back to where it came from. But that is top draw. It’s strong. I just love that goal. Love it.

On Kane’s penalty miss at the World Cup: “Of course, no-one wants that in their careers. I would have hated to miss a penalty that cost your team. But that’s his role, that’s his game.

“He scores more times than he doesn’t and he has been a shining light for England and Tottenham for years and years. I think he will brush that off easily. He is experienced. He knows the game. That happens. The last thing I would worry about is Harry Kane and he has bounced back.”

13 GOALS FROM 16 GAMES

A certain Erling Haaland over in Manchester is having the game of his life with 18 goals from 13 Premier League matches.

Given those alien-like performances from the Manchester City hitman, it’s making what Kane is doing over in north London ordinary when it’s far from it.

Haaland might end up scoring 40-plus goals this season, but Kane is on a road where he might also score 30+, which is pretty remarkable.

The England striker has 13 from 16 games, and at this rate, he too will break the Premier League record for most goals in a single season, his only problem is that so will Haaland.
