Gylfi Sigurdsson has told BT Sport that he still absolutely loves Tottenham Hotspur, after starring against them for Everton yesterday.
Sigurdsson spent two years at Tottenham between 2012 and 2014, and although the move did not work out entirely successfully, the Everton playmaker still has fond memories from his time with the North London club.
Indeed, Sigurdsson says that he still has friends at Tottenham, from when he played there, but it was nice to beat them last night.
“Always special for me to play Tottenham, I love the club, love the players and staff here and it’s nice to see everyone here again.” he said. “But most importantly we’re still in the competition.”
Everton owed Sigurdsson a lot at the end, as he contributed a goal and an assist in their 5-4 victory.

The £45 million Icelandic international (BBC Sport) first scored from the spot, before setting up Bernard for the winner in extra-time.
Sigurdsson’s pass into Bernard was absolutely brilliant, as he picked up the Spurs defence with a fine left-footed pass.
And in that moment he showed Tottenham exactly the sort of craft they are missing, after letting him go.
