Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand has been discussing Bukayo Saka after yet another brilliant performance at the weekend.

Saka scored the winning goal against Leeds, taking his scoring streak to three in a row, and it looks as though he’s hitting form at the perfect time.

Indeed, with the World Cup just around the corner, Saka has found another gear, and Ferdinand thinks that he’s now the first-choice winger for England heading into Qatar.

The pundit loves the fact that Saka always wants to beat his man whenever he gets on the ball, and he states that this aspect of his game reminds him a bit of his former Manchester United teammate, Nani.

Saka compared to Nani

Ferdinand spoke about the Arsenal star.

“In this form, you can’t look past Saka in that right-wing spot and he does it in an England shirt as well. He’s a winger that when he gets it, is first instinct is to go past you. We spoke to Nani and he said that was his intention too. I love that about him. He has no fear and he’s playing with a bit more maturity every time I see him. He’s confident and if he’s in that mode going into the World Cup I can’t see anyone starting ahead of him,” Ferdinand said.

Nani-esque

Saka’s attitude on the ball is similar to how Nani used to play, but we can’t help but argue that Saka has so much more to his game than the Manchester United winger ever did.

Saka is much smarter on the ball, while his defensive workrate is also streets ahead of where Nani was even in his prime.

The best part of Nani’s game was his skill on the ball, and while Saka isn’t quite at that level yet, he has that same forward-thinking boldness whenever he’s in possession, and that makes him an absolute nightmare to defend against.
