Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford has told the Leeds United podcast that he wishes Rodrigo had been in the team more often.
Rodrigo started with Bamford for Leeds against Southampton, in what was a rare start for the Spaniard this season.
When Rodrigo has been used recently he has often been brought on as a substitute for Bamford.
But Marcelo Bielsa opted to go with the both his side’s most attacking players against Southampton and his decision paid off.
Rodrigo set up Bamford for Leeds’ first goal in their 2-0 victory at St. Mary’s.
And Bamford admits that he loves playing alongside Rodrigo so much that he wishes the 29-year-old had featured more this season.
“I’m happy for Rodrigo. The pass he played for my goal, you know that technically he is so good and his vision is so good,” the goalscorer said.
“It’s a shame that I never really got to play with him consistently.
“He got Covid, then he got injured, then he got another injury and it took him a while to get into the team, but that pass and vision just showed [his quality].
“He played another one as well where I probably should have squared it by I shot from the tightest angle.
“I love playing with him because he likes dropping short to get the ball.

“I want to play with the best players and he’s obviously a Spanish international!”
Rodrigo’s recent form really has proven his class at Leeds, and suggests that he could have a major role to play next year.
The club’s record signing may not have had the impact many hoped when he first arrived, but in flashes his quality has been clear to see.
Bamford, meanwhile, has scored with great regularity all campaign.
The Leeds striker has now moved on to 16 goals for the season, in what has been an excellent first campaign for him back in the top flight.
