According to Record, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Marcus Edwards just a few years after he was let go by the north London outfit.
Edwards was on Spurs’ books as a young player, but sadly, due to numerous factors, he left the club a few years ago to head to Portugal.
A move to Sporting would follow, and two brilliant Champions League showings against Spurs seems to have convinced the north London club to give the winger a second-chance.
Spurs seem to realise the mistake they made with Edwards, but perhaps he would still be a Tottenham player if Tim Sherwood was given more time as manager.
Indeed, Sherwood has always spoken highly of Edwards, stating to Squawka a few years ago that he loves the player ‘to death’.

Sherwood adores Edwards
The former Spurs boss spoke to Squawka about how highly he rates Edwards.
“Marcus is a very acquired taste. I love him to death,” Sherwood said.
“He’s 5ft 5, technically gifted, left footed. Hopefully he gets a little bit more zip when he grows. He’s under match rated at the moment.”
Should’ve broken through
Sherwood clearly knew how talented Edwards was when he was at Spurs, so why didn’t he get a proper chance to shine?
He didn’t even get to play a single minute in the Premier League for Spurs. He was simply chewed up and spat out by the English football system.
Luckily, Edwards was wise enough to realise that his talents may be appreciated more abroad, and so it proved.
The winger has been a revelation over in Portugal, and now Spurs are keen to bring him back in a deal that will likely cost them tens of millions of pounds.
Spurs made a mistake when mishandling this young talent.
