Speaking on the BBC Radio 5 Live Football Daily Podcast, Robert Snodgrass has been full of praise for Rangers teenager Nathan Patterson.
The right-back was put into the Scotland side for the upcoming European Championships, and Snodgrass believes that he should actually be a starter in the upcoming tournament.
Now, Snodgrass didn’t have a bad word to say about Stephen O’Donnell, but he has been so blown away by Patterson that he believes he has to play.
“I know Stephen O’Donnell wouldn’t agree with me here, but I love the young boy Patterson, I love him. I would try to get him into the squad, the manager might not do it, but for me in those games we need full-backs that will bomb on,” Snodgrass said.
“O’Donnell has done really well, and he’s been terrific for Scotland, but the young lad Patterson, he’s got no fear. Put him in, play him, get him up and down, he’s got great attacking attributes, but I think he gets the nod for me for the games against Croatia and the Czech Republic, because those are the games we’ve got to go and win.”

Steve Clarke certainly has a big decision to make here.
Snodgrass is certainly right about Patterson not having any fear. He’s just 19 years old and he’s looked brilliant for Rangers when he has featured this season.
The teenager would provide Scotland with more of an attacking option at right-back, but whether or not he gets the nod over Stephen O’Donnell remains to be seen.
