Tony Cascarino has shared that ‘people have a go at him’ for expressing his ‘love’ for what Marcelo Bielsa does at Leeds, as he told talkSPORT.

Over the weekend, Leeds picked up a much-needed three points – their first of the new Premier League campaign.

But as has become the norm with Leeds, they didn’t make it easy for themselves and they should have won by more than the 1-0 scoreline.

Nightmares of conceding late on against West Ham last time out would have been in the minds of the Leeds players and fans.

But they held their own, and along with their three points, they secured that clean sheet.

Cascarino expressed how much he enjoys watching Leeds in action, but admitted, that he does get stick for his comments.

“It has been long overdue,” said Cascarino. “Leeds have been playing better than their points return.

“I keep saying the same thing, and I do get messages with people having a go at me because I love what Bielsa does.

“But if you can and watch Leeds, 20 shots (against Watford) at Elland Road again. 20 shots for a team that just create chances so often.

“I just enjoy watching them and sometimes you can get a little bit lost. But the type of players they buy and the value for money they get for them.”

Perhaps where the criticism for Bielsa stems from is that his team concede a lot of goals and are praised for ‘we have a go, you have a go’ type of mentality.

Whilst Leeds can create numerous chances against any side in the Premier League, they have proven on a number of occasions that they are prone to conceding way too many goals.

But what needs to be remembered is that this isn’t a Leeds side full of star-studded talent that was purchased for big, big money.

Not so long ago, these very same crop of players were sitting mid-table in the Championship.

Bielsa has managed to transform a large group of them into worthy Premier League performers, when some were probably questioning whether they are good enough to compete at the top level of the Championship.
