Not many players can say that they have stopped Jack Grealish from working his magic this season, but Vladimir Coufal did just that during West Ham’s win at Aston Villa on Wednesday night.
David Moyes had a clear plan for the thriving Villa playmaker, as Coufal and Ryan Fredericks doubled up on the England international last night.
After the game, Coufal posted an interesting Instagram message where the £5m West Ham defender (Guardian) stated ‘Sometimes I look like (a) psycho on the pitch’, with an image of him starring evil-eyed at Grealish.
Even though for the majority, Grealish was marked out of the game, he still managed to get an assist to his name.
It came from the right-hand side when his lovely-threaded through ball found Ollie Watkins, who slotted home to make it 2-1, at the time, before Jesse Lingard finished off the match moments later.
Perhaps Dean Smith should have told the boyhood Villa fan to switch flanks earlier because it probably would have been a different game.
Either way, Champions-League chasing West Ham deserved the three points and are now breathing down the necks of the Champions.
West Ham are two points behind Liverpool, who suffered back-to-back home defeats last night, as Brighton secured a deserved 1-0 win at Anfield.
But a number of tough fixtures await the East London club during these coming weeks, including both Manchester clubs and Tottenham.
