Neil Warnock has claimed that Liverpool forward Mo Salah has been ‘the best player’ in England for the last few years, as he told Sky Sports News.
The recently-retired manager added that whilst Salah has dipped out of form there is ‘no lack of effort’ from the player.
Liverpool are in Manchester on Sunday afternoon for a mouthwatering Premier League title showdown.
Pep Guardiola will be hoping his Manchester City side can, not just stop the runaway train on Liverpool’s right channel, but their explosive and all-action forward line.
Ahead of that match, Warnock praised Salah and added that the Premier League is ‘lucky’ to have teams like Man City and Liverpool.
“I think it’s one of those things,” said Warnock on Salah’s form. “I look at him and there is no lack of effort.
“He has probably been the best player there has been in the last couple of years, forward-wise in England.
“I think the disappointment wouldn’t have helped with the World Cup (Egypt not qualifying). He has come back and you expect him to go again now. Some of his finishing.
“Their front three, it just promises to be such an intriguing game – we are very lucky to have these two teams like this.”

The last time Salah came up against Man City, he scored a memorable solo goal, so that will be firmly on the back of Guardiola’s mind.
Whilst one game between these two sides isn’t enough, supporters will get another taste in the FA Cup next week.
A packed-out Wembley crowd is certainly the arena and stage for these two sides to showcase their talents.
And, if things go well for them in the Champions League, they could be on course to meet in the Champions League final which would be something.
