Don Hutchison shared that he ‘liked’ how Tottenham debutant, Rodrigo Bentancur, was ‘directing’ players like Harry Kane during their 3-1 FA Cup win over Brighton, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.

The radio pundit shared that, as soon as Bentancur was introduced into the actions, he was ‘controlling’ and ‘patrolling’ the experienced players around him.

Kane netted a brace yesterday as Spurs booked their place in to the FA Cup fifth round and keep their hopes alive of winning a trophy under Antonio Conte.

The Italian handed debuts to his January captures in Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski, as the duo looked likely during their brief time on the pitch.

Former Liverpool and Everton midfielder, Hutchison, praised Bentancur for the ‘bits of skill’ he brought to the debut party, but also what he did off the ball.

“You know what I liked about Bentancur,” said Hutchison. “It’s not so much the touches and the bits of skill that he had, which was full of quality.

“But it’s the way he walked on the pitch and he started directing experienced players like Harry Kane. People like Hojbjerg around him.

“He was controlling and patrolling that midfield. He expects a certain standard. He had some lovely touches.”

The early signs from Bentancur were positive and his lovely bit of skill on the edge of the area was just a sign of what is to come.

Not only have Spurs improved under Conte, but a number of players have picked up their game under his stewardship.

One of them includes someone like Harry Winks, who prior to Conte’s arrival, his career in north London looked dead and buried.

But now he is starting on a regular basis and looking like his old self, although, Bentancur will now be on his tail.
