Antonio Conte has singled out Richarlison for praise following Tottenham Hotspur’s defeat on Saturday.
Spurs rounded off their pre-season campaign in disappointing fashion by losing 1-0 to Roma in Israel.
A number of Tottenham’s pre-season recruits started the game but the former Everton attacker – a £60 million addition – started on the bench.
However, Conte unleashed Richarlison after the break and although he failed to change the game, the Italian manager was suitably impressed nonetheless.
He told Football London: “Richarlison I liked a lot the way he impacted the game. We need this type of player. Richarlison to start the game or go into the game, he can have a big impact. For us it’s very important.”
The Brazil international is certainly the Lilywhites’ marquee signing of the summer and hopefully he can have an impact this season.
It’s massive for Tottenham that the player already has a lot of Premier League experience, having competed in England for both Watford and the Toffees, and that should, in theory, help him adapt relatively quickly.
It was a very promising cameo for him against Jose Mourinho’s side last night and Conte is right – he can have a big impact for Spurs.
