Thierry Henry has praised Gabriel Jesus for scoring his well-taken goal during Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat to RC Lens in the Champions League.
From Bukayo Saka’s injury to losing out in France, there aren’t many positives for Mikel Arteta to take.
But one thing that will make those in Arsenal colours smile is Gabriel Jesus getting on the scoresheet once again in Europe.
The 26-year-old certainly impressed Thierry Henry for the manner in which he punished RC Lens in the first-half and then outfoxed his opponent, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (03/10/23 at 10:35 pm).
Starting from Manchester City and now filtering its way to Arsenal, that’s 22 goals in 40 Champions League games for the Brazil star.
That’s a pretty healthy and respectable record for a player who has previously been criticised for not having that killer instinct in the final third.

Gabriel Jesus goal v RC Lens
“It’s not the way you want to start against Arsenal,” said Henry. “They tried to play out from the back.
“Thomasson loses the ball to Bukayo Saka. I like what Jesus does there. He makes him believe he is going to go one way, but he goes the other way and goes across.”

Gabriel Jesus out on the right?
There is now a strong chance that Bukayo Saka will miss Arsenal’s showdown against Manchester City on Sunday after he hobbled off against Lens.
If that’s the case, then other players need to step up, but could Mikel Arteta possibly play Jesus on the right? He has been used in that position before and he has the ball-carrying ability to cause issues.
That will probably be Arsenal’s best option moving forward, as many fans will be praying that Saka’s injury is far better than it looks.
