Arsene Wenger has suggested that the quadruple is very much on for Liverpool this season – and believes a certain Luis Diaz could play a starring role in that unprecedented success.
Liverpool have already won one trophy this season after beating Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley in February.
And a surprise Premier League title success is also on the cards and victory away to Wenger’s former club Arsenal tonight would see them move within one point of leaders Manchester City.
Jurgen Klopp’s outfit, who are also in the FA Cup, booked their quarter-final spot in the Champions League last week by edging out Inter Milan 2-1 on aggregate.
Diaz has been a revelation since joining Liverpool in a £49 million deal from Porto in January, enjoying an instant purple patch under the German manager at Anfield.
And legendary coach Wenger believes that the Colombia international could be the difference in helping the Reds enjoy a clean sweep of honours come May.
He told BeIN Sport: “You cannot rule it completely out. It’s possible still for Liverpool. I would say by having bought Luis Diaz…..I like him. I like him. He’s mobile, fighting, looks like he can score goals. He’s a modern football player and overall yes I must say I like him very much.”
Massive
Tonight really is a massive encounter for Liverpool.
Remember, Arsenal have won their last five Premier League outings, making them one of the most in-form teams in England.
However, Liverpool, who won the title in 2020, know what it takes to become Premier League champions and winning games like this is of paramount importance for their chances.
Wenger is right in saying that winning four major honours is possible for Klopp and co this season, but it’d be an enormous achievement and the Merseysiders must focus on one game at a time.
