Speaking on the 90Min YouTube channel, Jamie O’Hara has been waxing-lyrical about Arsenal defender Ben White.
The centre-back was signed by the Gunners this summer for a fee of £50m, and it’s fair to say that the price Arsenal paid caused a bit of a stir.
Many believe that the Gunners overpaid for the former Brighton man, but O’Hara says White is a player he’s a big fan of, claiming that he’s going to go on to be something special.
What’s been said?
O’Hara was full of praise for the England international.
“Ben White. They paid £50m for him, but I like him. I think he’s going to be something special. He’s great on the ball. He has to work on his leadership and his heading ability though,” O’Hara said.

Could be a gem
Arsenal paid £50m for Ben White, and while he’s not done enough to justify that price tag yet, he could eventually prove to be a worthwhile signing.
White has the potential to be a fantastic footballer. He’s a fantastic expansive passer, while he can read the game as well as any defender.
Unfortunately, as O’Hara says, he’s lacking leadership on the pitch, while his heading ability leaves a lot to be desired.
However, aerial ability isn’t the be-all and end-all for a centre-back, just look at Fabio Cannavaro, he’s the last centre-half to win the Ballon d’Or and he stands at just 5 ft 9.
White could go on to become an absolute star if he’s coached correctly and fulfils his potential.
