Kevin Campbell told the Highbury Squad Podcast that he doesn’t think Arsenal will sign Nick Pope from Burnley.
Arsenal are on the lookout for a goalkeeper this summer and several names have been mentioned as possible incomings.
Sheffield United shot-stopper, Aaron Ramsdale, seems to be top of Arsenal’s wishlist, but the London club are in the phase of putting in a third bid for the player.
Nonetheless, when the possibility of signing Pope was mentioned to Campbell, he batted it off even though he likes the player.
“I like Pope,” said Campbell. “Would we go for Pope? I don’t think we would. I like him. I like him as a goalkeeper.
“But I don’t think we will go for him because I don’t think he is good enough with his feet.”

From the keepers that have been mentioned, Pope would be one of the standouts Mikel Arteta could sign.
On the international stage, he is England’s second-choice keeper and only missed Euro 2020 because of injury, so that puts him ahead of Ramsdale and another rumoured target in Sam Johnstone.
If Arteta still has faith in Bernd Leno then Arsenal might not splash the cash for a new man between the sticks, but they need someone seriously pushing the German, so serious dough needs to be put on the table.
And whilst Pope has question marks over his distribution, he has the calmness, handling and leadership qualities that are worthy of a club signing him.
