Tony Cascarino has claimed that he doesn’t think Jordan Hendeson looks fit following Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat at Leicester City, as he told talkSPORT.

The former striker thinks that Liverpool’s midfield ‘didn’t have the same drive’ as it previously has done at the King Power Stadium.

Henderson had just returned from illness, alongside Fabinho, but they couldn’t deal with a well-drilled and tactically sound Brendan Rodgers side.

Even though Mo Salah saw his penalty saved in the first half, it was the substitute, Ademola Lookman, that scored the only goal of the game.

After 70 minutes, Jurgen Klopp opted to take Henderson off and he was replaced by the attack-minded, Bobby Firmino.

Nonetheless, this is what Cascarino had to say about Henderson and Liverpool’s midfield against the Foxes.

“Henderson didn’t look fit,” said Cascarino. “I like Jordan Henderson. He has been a bit of a scapegoat. I like him. But he didn’t look fit.

“Fabinho has only just come back as well. I didn’t think their midfield had the same drive. They were (previously) the warriors.”

Simply put, it was an off-day for the Reds, and whilst they have been able to secure those three points before when things haven’t gone well for them, it wasn’t the case yesterday.

Given the levels Liverpool have previously operated at, then they are probably allowed such performances.

But this is probably going to hurt them big time in the race for the Premier League title, especially given how Manchester City are performing.

Not only that, it makes their trip to Stamford Bridge this Sunday even bigger and one they don’t want to slip up on because it will prove to be even more damaging if they lose against Chelsea.
