Thierry Henry has stated that he likes Leeds target, Brenden Aaronson, ‘a lot’, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (16/02/22 at 10:15 pm).
On Wednesday night, Aaronson and his RB Salzburg side were on the verge of a shock during their 1-1 draw against Bayern Munich in the first-leg of their Champions League knockout game, with Henry praising the ‘intensity’ to his game.
Given the aggression, intensity and energy Aaronson can play under, it’s no surprise that Leeds boss, Marcelo Bielsa, wants him in Yorkshire.
The Athletic reported in January that Leeds were looking to raise their offer for the attacking midfielder to £20 million, as they remain interested in his talents.
Henry, during his days managing Montreal in the MLS, came across Aaronson and he is a big fan of the youngster.
“I like him a lot, Brenden Aaronson, ” said Henry. “I came across him when I was a coach in Montreal. He killed us with Philadelphia. His activity, the way he sees the game and I have always been a fan of him. Not surprised to see what he is doing right now.
“His awareness, he’s adding goals to his game, he’s got legs and he arrives in the box. But what I like is his activity and the intensity he puts when he provides pressure. It’s unbelievable.
On his performance v Bayern: “He’s contagious. Like I said, I came across him in the MLS. The way he plays. His energy.
“Even though in the end, he went to get the ball for a quick throw-in. He’s alert. His intensity is second to none. He could have scored. He’s a good player. I always thought he was going to be a player.”

Leeds need another part to their midfield engine, but someone who can add speed and firepower to proceedings.
Some like Aaronson fits that bill and he would provide the creativity that Leeds desperately need.
Bielsa’s side create enough chances as it is without an out-and-out number ten, so imagine how far they would go with a player that naturally likes to sit in those pockets, play the ball quickly and create spaces for others.
So, this is one Leeds fans should look out for because something might just happen in the summer.
