Jurgen Klopp has shared that he is a ‘big fan’ of previous Liverpool transfer target and Inter midfielder, Nicolo Barella.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Klopp stated that Barella, who will be suspended for Inter’s Champion League tie against Liverpool on Wednesday night, is a ‘top-class’ footballer.
Back in the summer, there were suggestions that the Reds were keen to add the Euro 2020 star to their ranks.
In the end, the 25-year-old shut that talk off by signing a new deal with the Serie A champions.
Before Klopp shared what he likes about Barella, he first praised Ivan Perišić and explained why he is his favourite Inter player.
“That’s Ivan Perišić, I worked together with him,” said Klopp.
“We were very successful. We won the double in Germany. I like Ivan Perišić a lot.
“Barella is not able to play. It’s not bad for us. He’s a really good player. I like him a lot. He has all the things that you want from a midfield player.
“He’s aggressive, technical and he can run for ages. All these kinds of things, so that’s a top-class player.”

Of course, those Barella and Liverpool rumours were just rumours in the summer.
But judging by Klopp’s comments, it wouldn’t be a surprise if there was serious interest in his creative talents.
The manner in which the Liverpool boss is describing Barella’s game is what the German looks for in a player and he would suit the Reds down to the bone.
Thankfully, from Klopp’s perspective, he won’t have to deal with the player because he managed to get himself sent off against Real Madrid during the final group game of the Champions League.
