According to 90Min, Liverpool are keen on signing Wolves winger Pedro Neto this summer, and that would be an interesting signing for more than one reason.

Of course, signing Neto would be an interesting move based purely on his talent. Neto has shown at Wolves that he’s a tricky and often brilliant young footballer, so he’d bring a lot of flair to Liverpool.

However, what makes this more interesting is the idea of Neto once again linking up with Diogo Jota, a player Neto has admitted he’s learned from in the past.

What’s been said?

Neto and Jota were of course teammates at one point at Wolves, and he says that he’s studied Jota’s movement in the final third, learning from his knack to get on the end of crosses.

“We’re very different players, he was more in the top third closer to goal – if you cross he’s the guy that finishes the action,” Neto said about Jota.

“I remember in training competing with him, but I do a lot of crosses and Jota is the guy that finishes.

“I learned from him to be in the penalty area to be the second player (after the striker) to get on the end of crosses. I was unlucky with the cross by Adama (against Leicester), but this is another thing I’m trying to improve, be in the box and score more.”

Perfect for Liverpool

If Liverpool do end up getting Neto, there’s reason to believe he’d be fantastic for the Reds.

Not only does Neto have the pace, skill and ability to lead the line for Jurgen Klopp’s side, he seemingly has the same striking instincts as Jota, and if those two can continue to learn from one another, that would be a scary prospect.

So many of Jota’s goals last term came from getting on the end of these crosses, and if Neto has that same ability to sniff out a chance, he could score buckets at Anfield.

Whether or not this move comes to fruition remains to be seen, but if Liverpool sign Neto it would be a fantastic addition.
