Speaking on Arsenal’s YouTube channel, Bernd Leno has been discussing one of the saves he made from Heung-Min Son a few years ago.
Leno was tasked with ranking his five greatest saves in an Arsenal shirt, and inevitably, his save from Son was on the list.
Leno says that he made that save because he knew exactly what Son was trying to do – stating that he can read the South Korean quite easily due to the time they spent together at Bayer Leverkusen.
What’s been said?
Leno spoke about Son and his ability to read him.
“I have to say, I played with Son at Bayer Leverkusen, so I know what he is doing, and so as a goalkeeper sometimes you have to read the situation, and I read that situation to make that fingertip save,” Leno said.

Not always enough
Leno says that he can read Son with relative ease due to their time together in Germany, but sometimes, even that knowledge and foresight isn’t enough.
Just look at his goal against Arsenal in December 2020, that was vintage Son, but even though Leno probably knew what was coming, there was nothing he could do to stop it.
There’s a reason Antonio Conte has previously called the attacker ‘fantastic’ he’s one of the best players in the Premier League, and even though Leno has a bit of an advantage in knowing him so well, he’s not always able to stop him.
