Owen Hargreaves thinks Son Heung-min lacks in the creative department, that’s why he prefers the Tottenham Hotspur star ‘closer to goal and shooting’.
The former Bayern Munich midfielder thinks Son Heung-min performs at his best when he it’s ‘quick touch and finish’ and how he is also ‘the best finisher with his weaker left foot’, as he told Premier League Productions (04/09/23 at 2:35 pm).
Ange Postecoglou’s new-look Tottenham blasted newly-promoted Burnley for five at the weekend, with Son helping himself to a hat-trick – Ian Wright says the partnership between Son and James Maddison is ‘quite scary’.
That was the first time this season Son played down the middle, with Postecoglou opting to drop the struggling Richarlison to the bench.
Some of the finishes from Son, especially his first goal, were out of this world and a sign that the player, who won the Golden Boot two seasons ago, is back.
A very popular player inside the four walls of Hotspur Way, Hargreaves added that the 31-year-old is just someone who ‘everybody wants to do well’.

Son’s creativity and finishing
“I prefer Son, I know this sounds ridiculous, when he is closer to goal and shooting,” said Hargreaves. “I know he comes off the left and he comes inside.
“But I do think he is at his best when he it is quick touch and finish. I don’t think he is as good a creator as a Kulusevski type. That’s why down the middle, he can go left and right. I think he is the best finisher with his weaker left. He hits the ball so cleanly. He can go both ways. Everybody loves Son. Everyone wants to see him do well.
“But I am just happy to see Tottenham play some good stuff. They are going to have some crazy scorelines this season because they play so attacking.”

Can Son hit 20 Premier League goals this season?
The South Korean star has done it before and he will be hoping to hit those numbers again because he has the skill set to do so.
Some might even argue that without Harry Kane he could hit bigger numbers because the Bayern Munich star was always the central figure at Spurs, regardless of how Son performed.
Now, it will be interesting to see what Son produces because he is the main man of that forward line.
