‘I know the quality’: Bukayo Saka has a message for Leeds, hails Arsenal 23-year-old

Bukayo Saka has praised Leeds United for being ‘really good’ despite their 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at Elland Road on Sunday, as he told Sky Sports.

The England forward scored the only goal of the game and he hailed Martin Odegaard for supplying the assist by stating ‘I know the quality’ his captain has.

After Arsenal’s recent European games, this clash in Yorkshire was always going to be tough, especially given how hostile the crowd can be at Leeds.

And that’s how it turned out to be because Jesse Marsch’s side like to be in the faces of their opponents and play 100 miles-per-hour.

Patrick Bamford will be kicking himself that he missed a penalty, but he will also feel unfortunate that his stoppage-time penalty, after a kick out by Gabriel, was overturned.

Nonetheless, this was the message Saka had to Leeds after playing against them, as well as praising his own teammate.

“My heart is still racing,” said Saka. “It was a really tough game and Leeds did really well, especially in the second half. They put a lot of pressure on us, so its nice to leave with three points.

“I am sure I have (experienced a second half like that before). But, credit to Leeds, they were really good, especially in the second half.

“I know the quality Martin (Odegaard) has. So, as soon as he had the ball, I just tried to make the run to wherever he wanted me to be and luckily I was on the end of it.”

TOUGH ONE TO TAKE FOR LEEDS

That’s another game that passes by and another week where Jesse Marsch is waiting for a win in the Premier League – they last won a league game against Chelsea at Elland Road in August.

In truth, in terms of Leeds’ performances, they have done pretty well, without the luck and shot themselves in the foot.

That penalty miss from Bamford is a prime example, added to Luis Sinisterra’s double booking against Aston Villa.

All in all, if Leeds continue to be on the front foot, then that win will come, because as Arsenal proved, they are the best team in the land, at this moment in time, for a reason.
