Troy Deeney has suggested to TalkSport (09/11/20 at 7:15 am) that Tottenham have the quality to ‘grind out a win’ and it’s something which Arsenal don’t have in their locker.

Spurs recorded a late win over the weekend when they beat West Brom 1-0 at the Hawthorns, whilst Arsenal suffered a 3-0 home defeat to Aston Villa.

Mikel Arteta’s side are yet to secure a draw this season as well and have now suffered four defeats in the Premier League despite playing only eight matches.

Watford striker Deeney shared how there is no middle ground to the Gunners, as he made a Spurs comparison which one side of North London won’t like.

“There’s a lot Arteta’s trying to change very quickly,” said Deeney. “There’s a lot of the old guard and what I mean by that is players who have been there four years beforehand that are used to a certain way of playing and demand, which he is trying to change.

“The key thing for me is that they haven’t drawn a game this season. They either win or lose. What I liked about Spurs recently, especially at the weekend game [against West Brom] that was headed towards a draw. There was nothing in it.

“But you just felt that they were going to get that one chance and that’s what I can see changing with Spurs. I know that’s killing you [presenter and Arsenal fans Luara Woods] by comparing you with Spurs. But I just feel with Arsenal, they are either really good or they are average. They are not that team that are going to grind out a win.”

Only one week ago, Arsenal were celebrating a deserved victory at Manchester United where they were showing that grinding-type quality Deeney is talking about.

But it’s not taken them long to go back the other way, and the problem with Sunday’s performance was that it brought back nightmares of the past for the Arsenal supporters.

Even though it’s November, it’s still early days in the Premier League title race, as the proper test for all will begin after the international break.
