Before Liverpool embarrassed Manchester United at Anfield last night, Ralf Rangnick spoke to Sky Sports about the issues at Old Trafford.
The German specifically discussed recruitment problems, leading to some interesting comments involving Liverpool.
What’s the story?
Well, Manchester United fans won’t like to hear this, but Rangnick admitted that the Red Devils need to be more like Liverpool.
The 63-year-old said: “I know Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea also have smart people who take care of recruitment, scouting, the medical department… I think this is also an issue for our club, where they have to pay attention to.”
It’s not just recruitment, clearly. Rangnick is evidently unhappy with a lot of things at Old Trafford, including the medical team.
It is pretty damning, on the club’s behalf, for any Manchester United manager to tell the hierarchy they need to act more like bitter rivals such as Liverpool and Manchester City.
It’s quite obvious that Rangnick is frustrated, although for Liverpool and Jürgen Klopp, they will surely enjoy seeing the Red Devils struggle.
Liverpool are embarrassing Manchester United

Putting last night’s result aside for a moment, Liverpool are humiliating Manchester United in every sense nowadays.
Look at it this way. In terms of recruitment, the Red Devils started the likes of Phil Jones and Nemanja Matic yesterday, two players they should’ve outgrown years ago.
In contrast, Liverpool had a new boy in Luis Diaz who ran riot, scoring the opener before assisting the third goal for Sadio Mané.

The Reds freshened things up when needed, and haven’t allowed their squad to become stale like Manchester United have.
After years of being in Manchester United’s shadow, Liverpool are now basking in the spotlight of success.
