Nedum Onuoha told ESPN that Arsenal’s next potential signing, Ben White, has ‘always’ been praised by someone who has watched him for the last few years.
The former Premier League player thinks White will bring the consistency needed to Arsenal’s ‘inconsistent’ team if he puts pen-to-paper on that Emirates contract.
After weeks of speculation, both Arsenal and Brighton have reached an agreement for White’s signature, as reported by BBC Sport.
Former Premier League defender, Onuoha, shared that he wasn’t sure about White at first, but now he thinks Arsenal have a very good signing on their hands.
“I am a big fan of Ben White,” said Onuoha. “I know somebody who has watched him for a couple of years now and he would always be praising him.
“I wasn’t exactly sure what he was praising. But upon really studying his game. This is somebody really competitive. Really good on the ball and he reads the game really well.
“Not somebody who is lunging in and things like this. I was happy for him to make the England squad in the summer because he very much deserved to be there for his performances last season.
“For Arsenal, they might question the money and things like this. But, for me, it’s the culture at Arsenal. You might have players who play good football and they lack consistency.
“But here is a guy who can be consistent. Competitive. Tough at the back. But still plays the ball out from the back.”
From the perspective of the Arsenal supporters, they will be hoping this is just the start of some much-needed signings at the club.
Mikel Arteta needs players who will walk straight into the XI and White does that without hesitation.
But whilst a fee has been agreed, the deal isn’t over the line yet, so those in North London should only start cheering when it’s official.
