Alhassan Yusuf has played down speculation linking him with a move to Rangers or Wolverhampton Wanderers, telling GP he’s in no rush to leave Swedish outfit IFK Goteborg.
It has been a summer of sales in Scandinavia.
Kamaldeen Sulemana, Nordsjaelland’s answer to Neymar, looks set to become the latest up-and-coming talent to enrol in Ajax’s famous finishing school, while Jesper Lindstrom appears to be following Zidan Sertdemir to the Bundesliga.
And, with just one year left on his contract, the tireless, tenacious, terrier-like Yusuf was expected to head south too.
In February, ScoreNigeria reported Wolves, Leicester and Sheffield United were all interested in a bone-chewing pitbull of a midfielder in the N’Golo Kante mould.
African publication Today, meanwhile, reported Rangers and Brentford had made contact with Goteborg to enquire about the availability of a man expected to cost somewhere in the region of £3 million.
Will Alhassan Yusuf join Leicester, Rangers or Wolves?
But Yusuf didn’t exactly sound like a man packing his bags and clearing out his locker when asked about his future in Sweden’s second city.
“I know nothing about it because, now, the focus is only on my matches here, so we’ll see what happens,” Yusuf explains.

“It does not matter (that I only have a year left on my contract). Gothenburg is like home for me. I have no stress to leave.”
Yusuf did change his agent recently, however. He has joined ICM Stellar Sports, which also represents the likes of Morgan Gibbs-White, Kelechi Iheanacho, Jack Grealish and Ben Chilwell.
Interestingly enough, most of the players on Stellar’s agency either play in Britain or have done so in the past.
Could Yusuf soon join them?
