Neil Warnock has stated that he was ’surprised’ by Daniel Levy turning down big-money for Tottenham’s Harry Kane from Manchester City, as he told Sky Sports News (09/04/22 at 12:55 pm).
The recently-retired manager added that Tottenham’s hitman is ‘ideal’ for Manchester City.
It was well-documented in the summer that the Premier League champions were keen on signing Kane.
Whilst a late arrival to training from the England captain raised questions in the summer, at the end of the day, he stayed put, even with Pep Guardiola publicly expressing his interest in the player.
The transfer fee that was thrown about was £100 million+, as Warnock shared his thoughts on Levy’s actions.
“I think that Man City, if they sign him,” said Warnock. “If it cost 130 million. I was surprised at Levy really. I know they offered £100 million something and he would have wanted £150 million, or something like that.
“But the way that they (Man City) play, then they have got to spend that money on the best player in England.
“The way he plays and comes off. He is so difficult to mark. He’s ideal for Man City.”

Over recent years, Spurs fans haven’t really seen eye-to-eye with the man running the club at the top.
Tottenham’s no-nonsense chairman has come under a lot of scrutiny, but one thing the supporters will feel he has done very right is how he has dealt with the Kane situation.
First of all, keeping him on board, then having him sign a new contract a number of seasons ago, without a clause of any kind or bowing down to this so-called ‘gentleman’s agreement’.
All in all, it suits Tottenham, although, those years are now running down and there aren’t any signs that Kane will sign a new deal.
