Rio Ferdinand has claimed that Liverpool target, Antonio Rudiger, knows that he will ‘get a club’ at the end of his Chelsea contract, as he told his own YouTube channel.

The former Premier League winner claimed that Rudiger can play the ‘waiting’ game regarding his Chelsea contract because he knows there will be somebody else ready to pay ‘top dollar’ for him.

Eurosport suggested in October that, when Rudiger’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires in the summer, then Liverpool are keen to snap him up on a free transfer.

The 28-year-old could argue that he has been one of the best centre-backs in world football during the past 12 months and that was helped by him winning the Champions League against Manchester City.

Whilst Rudiger is a regular under Thomas Tuchel, and performing at his best, he still hasn’t signed on the dotted line.

And Ferdinand shared that, given his situation, the rumoured Liverpool target doesn’t have to say much regarding his future because he will have the options in the summer.

“Rudiger is in a successful period at Chelsea,” said Ferdinand. “They have won the Champions League.

“He is playing every game. And he’s doing particularly well. Everything is positive in his camp, so there is no need to be going to the media.

“He is sitting there and saying ‘I am waiting. I know I am going to get a club and someone is going to pay me top dollar’. It’s now just about ‘where I might want to go’.”

From Rudiger’s perspective, there is no reason why he shouldn’t stay on at Chelsea because he seems to have a very good relationship with Tuchel.

Added with that, he is playing his best football and on a weekly basis.

But this is where he can use the current cloud he is on to possibly get any club he wants in world football.

The German international is performing at a level that allows him to think in such a high fashion, but of course, it could all end tomorrow by the player extending his stay in London.
