Speaking to Off The Ball, Mark Lawrenson has been discussing Kostas Tsimikas after he scored the winning penalty against Chelsea in the FA Cup final.

The Greek Scouser netted the decisive penalty against the Blues, and there couldn’t have been a more popular scorer of that penalty within the Liverpool squad.

Indeed, every single player looked elated to see Tsimikas get his moment in the sun, and Lawrenson says that Tsimikas is one of the biggest characters in the dressing room, stating that he’s always hyper-active and a bit nuts – even going as far as to compare him to Bruce Grobbelaar.

What’s been said?

Lawrenson discussed Tsimikas.

“I must admit, I’m delighted that Tsimikas scored the winner, I know from being around the club and doing the TV channel and that sort of stuff, he’s a bit nuts, he’s a bit Brucey, he’s a bit nuts, he’s just one of those lads who is always hyper and everything. By the way, he can play right-back or left-back if you want him to, he just makes it look easy whenever he comes in,” Lawrenson said.

Great character

Tsimikas may not be one of Liverpool’s most important players on the pitch, but it sounds as though he’s a fantastic player to have in the dressing room.

Players always speak so highly of him, and as we saw in a video posted on Liverpool’s YouTube channel this week, he’s got a great bond with the likes of Alisson Becker.

Tsimikas could easily be disheartened at the prospect of playing second-fiddle to Andy Robertson, but the 26-year-old is seemingly one of the most optimistic and high-energy players at Anfield, and having a dressing room that is happy is a key part to any level of success.
