Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told his post-match press conference that Leeds United are the ‘fittest’ team in the Premier League and they play with the ‘highest intensity’.

Manchester United put five past Leeds on Saturday, despite Marcelo Bielsa’s side, at one stage, pegging back their opponents with a thunderous effort from Luke Ayling.

Last season, the Whites conceded six to their bitter rivals and they couldn’t prevent their opponents from running riot again in front of a packed-out home crowd over the weekend.

On paper, it seemed pretty straightforward for the Premier League title challengers, but Solskjaer admitted one worry about Leeds.

“I knew they (Man United players) were going to work hard,” said Solskjaer. “But fitness levels, I wasn’t 100% sure because Leeds are the fittest team and the highest intensity team. Most sprinting team.

“But the way we coped with that and put the foundation for a performance, that’s important.”

The all-action, 100 miles-per-hour and aggressive nature in which Leeds play can be daunting if you haven’t faced them before.

But if you can get to grips with it and get off to a flying start then they have showcased a tendency to concede three, four, five and even six before.

Whilst Manchester United proved to be a difficult task for the Yorkshire outfit, it’s going to be a different story in their next game.

For the first time in nearly 20 years, Leeds will be able to pack out Elland Road for a Premier League fixture with Everton their opponents.
