Speaking on the Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast, journalist Alasdair Gold has shared what people within Spurs have been saying about replacing Harry Kane.

It’s no secret that Kane could be on the move this summer, and Tottenham have been linked with plenty of strikers who could slot into the XI in his place.

However, according to Gold, people within Spurs are now saying that it’s too late in the window to bring in an absolute replacement for the England captain.

What’s been said?

Gold shared an insight into what he’s been hearing about Spurs’ stance on replacing Kane.

“Another thing I keep hearing out of Spurs is that it’s now too late in the window to bring in the absolute replacement,” Gold said.

“We’ve never gotten away from this fact, Kane is the top or the second-top striker in world football, between him and Lewandowski is a debate to be had, so to replace that with three weeks left of the window, we know you can’t replace him with one person. Martinez or Vlahovic are not a Kane replacement, this is a guy who was the Golden Boot winner and the Playmaker award winner,” Gold said.

Less and less likely

If Spurs have this mindset then with each passing day it becomes less and less likely that Kane will leave.

If they’re worried with three weeks to go, they will surely be feeling even more antsy with two weeks left, and from there you’re talking about a matter of days until the window closes.

If any team wants Kane, they’re going to have to get a move on, because it’s hard to envisage Spurs selling if they don’t have a plan to replace him lined up.
